Cypress is an unincorporated community in northwest Harris County, part of Greater Houston along U.S. Highway 290 and the Grand Parkway. It's one of the fastest-growing parts of the metro: the two Cypress ZIP codes held about 200,839 residents and 66,150 housing units at the 2020 Census, and ZIP 77433 was ranked the nation's hottest ZIP code for home buyers in 2023. That growth means a steady supply of new garage slabs looking for a first coating, plus older builder-grade concrete that has started to pit, stain or crack. On the commercial side, Sysco runs a shared-services distribution campus off Highway 290, and the Houston Texans plan to move their headquarters here by 2029, both needing heavy-traffic, chemical-resistant flooring. Every one of those slabs sits on Harris County's black gumbo clay, which can swell 10 to 15 percent in wet weather and shrink in drought, a cycle that cracks a poorly prepped coating within a year.
